and Long Term Care Concerns
As per the syllabus,
students will be required to conduct an in depth interview of one family
situation where such issues discussed in the course material are present. For
your signature assignment, you will identify an individual who is experiencing
a situating involving an older adult family member who is experiencing a life
event related to any of the topics described in this course. You will write up
your interview in report form and include the following information in a 8 - 10
page paper:
1. Person interviewed
(do not use names, instead, describe relationship to you for instance
"friend of family" or "co-workers mother").
2. Discuss the issue
you explored. Be certain to indicate how long the issue has been problematic.
Be certain to describe those involved in the issue from a developmental
perspective.
3. Describe any
legal/ethical issues inherent in the situation being described.
4. Examine any
financial stressors associated with the issue.
5. Describe the roles of family members being
impacted by the issue you explored.
6. Is the client
confident that s/he has addressed his/her issue satisfactorily or does he/she
feel that they may need professional assistance with the issue.
7. Describe appropriate therapeutic endpoints.
That is, what does the client feel needs to "happen" in order to
achieve an orderly resolution to his/her issue.
8. Consider
appropriate referrals for the individual. That is, who would you refer them to
and what rationale would be used to justify the referral?
9. Describe the type
of follow-up required specific to this issue.
Paper should be 8 to
10 pages, be appropriately referenced and adhere to appropriate formatting.
