A. The Task
This practical assignment involves you in the WLAN network performance analysis. You are required to design a WLAN scenario, and conduct QoS performance analysis under different traffic combinations, including data traffic and real time traffic.  This assignment weighs 100% of the total practical assessment (i.e., the practical component of the overall assessment).
You will need to do the following specific tasks:
1.     Design a WLAN scenario and define the topology where the WLAN will be used.

2.     Based on your WLAN scenario, design 2 different traffic combinations, such as web application, Voice over IP (VoIP), and FTP. Then discuss each of the traffic combination, and state what you would expect from the analysis.
3.     You will then choose the performance criteria in terms of throughput (under IEEE 802.11 a/g/n), delay, latency and security (you can choose firewall and/or built-in parameters of simulation tool).  Choose 2 performance criteria. Discuss the reasons for your choice.
4.     Setup your simulation in OPNET. 
5.     Finally, carefully design and clearly state your test cases, and answer the QoS questions. The following steps may help you in designing your test cases.
5.1                        Set up the first test scenario. For a combination of traffic input types, test the network performance. You need to choose meaningful performance criteria, such as throughput and delay. In your report, you need to
a)     describe your test scenario and chosen criteria;
b)    show some relevant screenshots; and
c)     explain and justify your results with variation of the curves obtained from the simulation as shown on the graphs of the screenshots.
5.2                        Set up the second test scenario. In this case, increase the traffic input of the first scenario by 50%. Then, you are required to do the same as the set of sub-tasks indicated in 5.1. 
5.3                        Compare and analyse the results you have got in 5.1 and 5.2 and explain them.
B. Deliverables
The following need to be documented in your report for this assignment:
1.     Description of Tasks 1-2 (no more than 6 A4 pages, and no fewer than 3 pages).
2.     A diagram of your designed network
3.     Your test scenarios. Try to give critical analysis and clear explanation on your test cases and results from Tasks 5.1 and 5.2 above. Also, show your comparative analysis and evaluation (as required by Task 5.3 above).
